Franke Park, the city's largest park (316.4 acres), and is home to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a 38 acre zoo, home to many animals including prairie dogs, African penguins, wallabys, tortoises, alligators, and macaws. Another major attraction is the sea lion tank, and scheduled feedings can be viewed. A family of Capuchin monkeys can be found on Monkey Island, and peacocks roam freely throughout the zoo. There is also a duckpond and small aviary, and Central Zoo rides such as the Pony Ride and Zoo Train.
Salomon Farm Park
The period selected for the operating theme for Salomon Park is the 1930s, as this era is a very significant watershed in farm life, as the 1930s represent a lengthy era of similar aspects of agriculture and domestic life. They offer many exciting programs and classes for adults and children related to nature, and the Farm is the perfect location for hiking, cross-country skiing, bird watching and much more.
Bob Arnold Northside Park is a 37.5 acre park, acquired in 1978. This park features ball diamonds, basketball court, football/rugby field, a pavilion/Shelter, a picnicking area, a playground, a soccer field, a swimming pool, tennis courts and more!
Foster Park was is a 254.9 acre park, acquired in 1912-1932. Park features include ball diamonds, fishing, floral displays, a golf course, a pavilion/shelter,a picnicking area, a playground, a rivergreenway, tennis courts, trails/paths and much more!
As of 2005, the city had 87 parks covering 2,199.55 acres (8.9 kmē).
